Import Restrictions

The importation of certain articles are restricted or prohibited in order to protect the community, to maintain animal and plant life, among other reasons. Restricted items may be released after inspection by the appropriate agency or detained until conditions of the restrictions are met. Receipts are issues for all articles detained by customs.

Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

• beer
• cuttings
• fruits
• fruit juices and drinks
• plants
• seeds
• unprocessed plant products
• vegetables

Fresh fruits from certain countries are prohibited in order to prevent the spreading of pest and plant diseases. Certain plants, seeds or cuttings may require an import permit and a phytosanitary certificate.

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

• log and timber products from Liberia (wood-chips, poles, post, fence pickets, sheets, flooring, molding, pallet, tool handles, barrels, crates, tableware/kitchenware, shutters, blinds, cases/boxes/chests for jewellery and silverware, clothes hangers, clothespins, toothpicks, etc.)
• soil.

Items mailed using Xpresspost - International service require an additional copy of the commercial invoice/CN23.
